Audiovisual Performance
Dromos (2013) is an immersive audiovisual performance designed by Eric Raynaud and Maotik, created for 360° projection and sound diffusion environments. The work was developed at the Satosphere of the Society for Arts and Technology (Montreal) and premiered at MUTEK. The piece is directly inspired by the thinking of French philosopher and urbanist Paul Virilio, and more specifically by his work on speed (dromology) and the concept of the “integral accident.” Dromos questions the psychological, perceptual, and sensory effects of the widespread acceleration induced by contemporary technologies. Through a combination of generative visuals and immersive sound spatialization, the performance plunges the audience into a dynamic and unstable flow, translating the experience of temporal and informational saturation. Dromos thus creates a tension between perception, speed, and collapse, making immersion a critical as well as aesthetic tool.
