Xp.iko is a collaborative project between Eric Raynaud and Gerriet K. Sharma from the Spaes Lab in Berlin, dedicated to redefining the creative potential of the legendary IKO loudspeaker. This innovative project focuses on redesigning the tools and framework for this unique 20-speaker ambisonic array, transforming it into a powerful instrument for spatial sound composition and immersive performance.
The IKO, known for its ability to project highly directional sound fields with unmatched precision, offers a radically different approach to spatial audio. Through this collaboration, Xp.iko seeks to expand the expressive capabilities of the IKO, integrating it with cutting-edge software for real-time audio spatialization and advanced sound design.
The project explores the intersection of architecture, spatial acoustics, and immersive composition, creating new possibilities for artists working with complex sound fields. It aims to push the boundaries of spatial sound, leveraging the IKO’s unique characteristics to create immersive sonic environments that challenge the perception of space and sound.
